»George Eastman House names new curator of motion pictures

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Dr. Caroline Frick Page has been named curator of motion pictures at George House International Museum of Photography and Film, the third largest film archive in the United States. Assuming her position on March 1, she is the sixth curator of motion pictures in the museum’s 61-year history. She has previously worked in film preservation at Warner Bros., Library of Congress, and the National Archives in Washington, D.C.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — This winter George Eastman House presents an exhibition of photographs by contemporary, and often controversial, artist Roger Ballen. The 74 black-and-white images of this mini-retrospective, titled Roger Ballen: Photographs 1982-2009, will be on display Feb. 27-June 6, 2010. Eastman House will travel the exhibition worldwide following its Rochester run.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Did you have fun shooting slides a few decades back? Well, at George Eastman House there is someone who won’t groan or duck into the kitchen when you pull out your slide collection! She’s actually inviting you to do so. Jenn DiCocco of Philadelphia, a graduate student in Eastman House’s master of arts program in Photographic Preservation and Collections Management, is hoping to sit down with you for an afternoon to talk and see your slides. The preferred era for the slide collections is the 1950s and 1960s.
