Photographic Preservation and Collections Management

This program is an intensive, eight-month, graduate-level immersion program for professionals, students, and independent scholars. Based in the Museum’s unparalleled photographic collections, this comprehensive combination of practical and classroom experience offers extraordinary access to the Museum’s unparalleled photographic collections, world’s largest library of photographica, and state-of-the-art conservation laboratory and an internationally recognized faculty and staff. The program will prepare students for professional careers in photographic preservation and collections management.

The L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation

The work of film and audiovisual archiving is now recognized as a distinct field of professional endeavor, embracing ethical and curatorial standards, collection management "best practices," historical research, public exhibition and interpretation of collections, and cultural conservation.

The staff and alumni of the Selznick School lead the way in studying the conservation challenges of the moving image and audio-visual formats of the past and present, and in preparing students to meet those of the future.
