Su Hyun Kim was born in 1989 in South Korea, where she first started playing the piano at the age of 7. She studied at Sun-Hwa Art High school. Beginning in 2008, she continued her study at Korea National University of Arts, where she was offered a scholarship to study with Professor Chong Pil, Lim. She won numerous competitions including First Prize at the Berlin-Seoul International Competition 2009, Third Prize at the Bechstein-Samik Competition 2008, Second Prize at the Music-Chunchu competition, and 2nd prize at the Franz Liszt Competition 2011. She was invited to play at the 2010 Euro-Music Festival in Leipzig and participated in many master classes taught by world-renowned musicians such as Arie Vardi and Yoheved Kaplinsky. In 2013, she was accepted to the Master of Music in Piano performance and Literature course at Eastman School of Music, where she holds scholarships to study with Professor Enrico Elisi.
