In Person! Director James Gray introduces Two Lovers

On Friday December 2, 2011 at 8:00 pm in Dryden Theatre

After directing his first four films, James Gray quickly established himself as one of the most accomplished voices in contemporary American cinema. A three-time Palme d’Or-nominee, Gray will introduce his most recent film, Two Lovers (US 2008, 110 min.), and answer questions after the screening.

Two Lovers stars Joaquin Phoenix as Leonard Kraditor, who has moved back home after a failed engagement sent him into a severe depression. While he pines for his gorgeous, troubled neighbor Michelle (Gwyneth Paltrow), his parents set him up with the down-to-earth Sandra (Vinessa Shaw), giving Leonard a dilemma that may determine his future. Inspired by Dostoyevsky’s White Nights, Two Lovers is a profoundly moving romantic drama, anchored by Phoenix’s stunning lead performance.
