Oct. 13, 2007 through Nov. 25, 2007
An exhibition featuring hundreds of 8-by-10-inch glossy publicity photos of Burlesque performers in the 1950s and 1960s.
Equal parts titillation, marketing, and performance, burlesque has piqued the curiosity and interest of the American public for more than a century.
This exhibition, drawn from the collection of Robert and Nina Freudenheim and organized by George Eastman House, includes nearly 600 publicity images and memorabilia from Buffalo’s Palace, one of the longest running burlesque theaters in the US. Combining pageantry, comedy, and drama that reigned for nearly six decades, this exhibition says as much about the society that supported burlesque as it does about the art form itself.
Part of Lucha Libre y Más
