The Motion Picture Stills, Posters and Paper Collection at George Eastman House has approximately three million items, including letters, scripts, musical scores, lobby cards, posters, film stills, and celebrity portraits. The Collection may be consulted by appointment for research purposes. Contact: stills@geh.org. Reproductions are available to commercial and non-commercial institutions, as well as to individuals.

George Eastman House and the Motion Picture Department do not grant or imply copyright clearance for any of the images obtained from the Motion Picture Stills Collection. The individual or institution requesting images must clear copyright for any publication of potentially copyright protected material. George Eastman House is not liable for any infringement of copyright by those requesting images from the collection. Stills provided by the Museum may not be copied or altered without the written consent of George Eastman House.

Fees and Formats

The Motion Picture Department revised its price list for reproductions from the Stills, Posters and Paper Collection effective January 1, 2008. Until the new prices are posted, please email stills@geh.org with your request and we will by happy to give you a quote during this interim period. Thank you for your patience.

All rates given below refer to TIFF or JPEG files and copies on CD. Digitally-printed hard copies carry an additional $10.00 fee per print (8.5" x 11" or 21 x 28 cm.). Photochemical copies carry an additional $60.00 fee per-print (8.5" x 11" or 21 x 28 cm.). Copies in other sizes are subject to special order fees.

Rush Fees — Charges are doubled for any requests made within two weeks of the delivery date. Time of delivery varies according to the number of stills requested.

Delivery — Mailing/shipping costs for CD and hard copies are added at the time of billing unless otherwise agreed.

Taxes —Taxes are applicable on all orders, except for non-profit institutions that provide a valid Federal Tax ID number.

NOTE: We do not provide standard photocopies of photographs, nor copies of fragile, rare or valuable paper documents.

Frame Enlargements — Special Order

Where we have no existing stills for a given film we are able to offer frame enlargements for preserved films within our collection that are in the public domain. Please allow 6-8 business weeks for delivery. Frame enlargements may be obtained by ibe of two methods:

• Our staff will view the film find the frame desired, and make a digital copy. Digital copies will be sent as TIFF or JPEG files by email, CD, or as a hardcopy.
• Researchers may be authorized to select images of their own choice by viewing a print with staff supervision. Appointments must be made at least three weeks in advance. Rates for viewing rooms are $15.00 per hour. Once images are selected, digital copies will be made in the formats specified above, and sent to you within two business weeks.
