Other Resources
The Reading Room
The Reading Room, a multi-purpose resource center for teachers, is located on the second floor of the Eastman House. There is a conference table and study area that teachers may use to review our Discovery Kits, exhibition slide sets, videotapes, or books for loan. The room is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. All reading room materials may be borrowed free of charge.
In-Services
Want to learn more? Teacher in-services are held throughout the school year to inform educators about museum exhibitions and Education Department offerings.
Special Projects
Thinking about a new project? George Eastman House Education is a long-standing partner in collaborative programs within and outside New York State with teachers, schools, and arts-in-education agencies.
New Projects in Development
The George Eastman House mission statement includes the phrase, "Build information resources to provide the means for both scholarly research and recreational inquiry." Answering this call, the Museum has begun a long term initiative to create online versions of many of its past publications and significant historical volumes from its library.
Eastman House is converting the first fifty years of its journal, IMAGE, for online distribution. The project to be completed in late 2008, will perform full text scanning of each issue (for Optical Character Recognition) to produce downloadable PDF files. We have provided a few early samples for your review.
