Exploring George Eastman House at night? What a party!
'A Night at the Museum' party package invites kids ages 7 to
13 to experience the historic mansion and behind-the-scenes sites after hours
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — As parents scramble to find unique birthday
party options for their kids, George Eastman House invites your child and party
pals to spend "A Night at the Museum" and experience the historic mansion all to
themselves — while at the same time learning about the history of
Rochester and photography and motion pictures.
This party package for up to 15 children is geared to those ages 7 to 13.
This unique package includes behind-the-scenes kids' tours of all the nooks and
crannies of Mr. Eastman's historic mansion not open to the public — the
third floor, attic, wine cellar, and tunnels beneath the home — all led by
Kathy Connor, curator of the George Eastman Collection.
"What could be cooler than having your child's party in this mansion?" noted
Connor, who also happens to be a mom to a 12-year-old. "It is a chance for your
children and their friends to have fun and experience history from a different
angle, seeing areas of the house normally off-limits to visitors, and hearing
stories about Mr. Eastman's life, business, and home that most fascinate young
people. It really is a party that your children will remember for the rest of
their lives."
Party guests will be treated to pizza and drinks, with an opportunity to
create crafts in the Eastman House's Discovery Room, a hands-on activity center
that focuses on the roots of photography and motion pictures. The cost for a
two-hour party is $250. A bonus option, for an additional fee, is a private
movie screening with popcorn in the Curtis Theatre.
