THE PARTY IS ON!
George Eastman House celebrates Academy Awards® Sunday, Feb. 24
Popular movie-theme party features live music, dancing,
and ceremony on the big screen in the Dryden Theatre
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — George Eastman House International Museum of
Photography & Film will celebrate the 80th Academy Awards® on Sunday, Feb. 24
with its 12th annual movie-themed Oscars® party — at the home of the father of
motion picture film, George Eastman.
This popular party is charged with all the excitement of Hollywood's
big night, featuring live music, dancing, and the Academy Awards® ceremony
on the big screen in the 500-seat Dryden Theatre, as well as on TV monitors
throughout the museum.
You'll feel like a star as you wave off the paparazzi walking down
the red carpet. Inside the Eastman House you'll be tempted by hors d'oeuvres
and desserts while bidding on exciting silent auction items. Practice your
acceptance speech as you pose for a portrait with an actual Oscar® statuette
and make your way to the mansion to dance to the music of Nik and the Nice Guys.
Additional live performances include a movie-themed performance from Geva
Comedy Improv and a Hairspray dance number. Plus, be part of the crowd cheering on
hometown-favorite Philip Seymour Hoffman as he vies for his second Oscar!
As this is the 80th annual Oscars® ceremony, food themes will reflect the last
80 years of movies: munchkin-size hors d'oeuvres for The Wizard of Oz; an
Italian pasta spread in honor of The Godfather trilogy; a barbecue homage to
Western classic High Noon; and monster dessert offerings celebrating
King Kong, featuring banana and chocolate delicacies.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the celebration continues through the Best Picture award.
Dress is festive attire. Advance tickets are $50 per person ($60 day of event) and
include valet parking and your first drink of beer or wine on the house. Tickets are
on sale now at www.eastmanhouse.org; by phone at (585) 271-3361 ext. 444; or in
person at the Eastman House admissions desk.
This annual event is a fundraiser for George Eastman House and its
preservation efforts and is organized in conjunction with the Eastman Young
Professionals. The party's premier sponsor is Frontier, with additional
support from City Blue Imaging Services and Dumbwaiter Design.
