Dryden Theatre presents Monty Python double features Dec. 30 and 31—Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Life of Brian
ROCHESTER, N.Y. —The Dryden Theatre at George Eastman House will be having some fun New Year's week, with two double-feature screenings of Monty Python classics:
Tuesday, Dec. 30
7 p.m.
MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL (Terry Gilliam/Terry Jones, UK 1975, 91 min.)
Perhaps their funniest and most popular film, the Python crew takes on the legend of Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and their quest to find the Holy Grail.
9 p.m.
LIFE OF BRIAN (Terry Jones, UK 1979, 93 min.)
Python's insanely funny parody of piety and religious epics, classic comic moments abound, particularly the Sermon on the Mount: "What did he say? Blessed are the cheese makers?"
Wednesday, Dec. 31
2 p.m.
MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL
4 p.m.
LIFE OF BRIAN
New Year's Eve evening screening: The New Year's Eve evening screening also will be a double feature. The classic romantic comedies taking the screen starting at 7 p.m. are Easy Living and Remember the Night (which begins at 8:45 p.m.). Both movies are from Hollywood's Golden Age, written by legendary filmmaker Preston Sturges and directed by Mitchell Leison. The 1937 screwball gem Easy Living features Jean Arthur and Edward Arnold, and is followed by Remember the Night from 1940, which stars Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray. Advance tickets are on sale now for the evening New Year's Eve double feature.
Admission to each double feature is $7 general admission and $5 members and students. For more information visit dryden.eastmanhouse.org or call (585) 271-3361. The Dryden Theatre at George Eastman House is located at 900 East Ave., Rochester.
