Eastman House and Kodak

With the news of Kodak's transformation, we assure you the legacy of George Eastman and the industry he revolutionized will continue here at George Eastman House. This Museum — the world's first dedicated to still and moving images — has been proud to partner with Kodak since its inception in 1947 as an independent institution as well as a vibrant, living memorial to George Eastman.

George Eastman House celebrates the art, science, and history of photography and motion pictures, and we will continue to do so for countless generations to come. Support from Kodak, in the form of grants, board leadership, and innovative joint project creation, has been an important part of our shared history.

From the beginning, Eastman House has been the recipient of Kodak's earliest collections — the technology, the photography, the literature, the moving picture, the legacy of George Eastman. And now today, still independent, Eastman House holds and interprets many of the Kodak archives, from its camera collection to its print advertising collection, amongst the millions of objects for which the Museum cares.

We extend best wishes to our friends at Kodak, and we look forward to continuing our partnerships. Kodak has assured Eastman House leadership it will emerge from its transformation as a streamlined company that intends to continue close ties to the community and Eastman House.
