On September 27, 2012, Eastman House organized a press conference to announce the appointment of its eighth director, Dr. Bruce Barnes. Here, Barnes addresses members of the media and friends of the museum.

Thanks to dedicated leadership by members of the Eastman House Council, a challenge grant by council founding president Georgia Gosnell, and generous donations from many, the museum was able to complete renovation of George Eastman’s Palm House in 2012.

Lost Birds: Sculptures by Todd McGrain was on view in the museum’s gardens from July 3 through September 30, 2012. A series of associated programs began on July 28 with a screening of The Lost Bird Project, a documentary film by Deborah Dickson, followed by a panel discussion.

Fireworks light the Townson Terrace Garden during a tribute gala for exiting Ron and Donna Fielding Director Tony Bannon held on May 12.

Members of the media cover an April 28 panel discussion by Magnum photographers Bruce Gilden, Jim Goldberg, Susan Meiselas, Martin Parr, Paolo Pellegrin, Alessandra Sanguinetti, Alec Soth, Larry Towell, Alex Webb, and Donovan Wylie, organized in conjunction with the Magnum Sees Rochester project. This project was the result of a partnership between Magnum Photos, Rochester Institute of Technology, Visual Studies Workshop, and George Eastman House.
